On the water's edge
between Dartmouth and Totnes, the Stoke Gabriel Boathouse is a luxurious
self-catering vacation home available for holiday let in Southern England.
Bounded by water, farms and woodlands, this recently converted 19th century
boathouse and shipwright's cottage is a paradise for touring, sailing, fishing,
or simply relaxing in secure and tranquil privacy. A short walk from its gated
front garden leads to the Stoke Gabriel river village offering a variety of
inns, pubs, and local attractions.
Historic Totnes and its Elizabethan shops are 10 minutes north by car whilst a few miles down river lies Dartmouth Castle guarding the port of Dartmouth and its town since the reign of Henry VII. Book-sellers, 4-star restaurants, pubs, craft shops, museums, and the famous Torbay & Dartmouth steam railway, are just a few of the attractions at hand in this medieval port whose shipwrights serviced the Mayflower and Speedwell on their way to America. The seaside resort of Torquay is six miles east with sandy beaches, windsurfing, restaurants, theatres, and children's amusements.
All principal rooms in the Boathouse command panoramic river and harbour
views. A balcony from the master bedroom leads to a secluded 40-ft terrace
pinnacled upon a native stone sea wall bordered by the riverfront and woodlands.
A mooring and charter boat are available by special arrangement.
The main floor contains a 2-story high living/dining-room with hand-hewn
beams, stone walls and a water's edge balcony. This floor also contains a cloak
room/WC and iron spiral staircase leading to the fully-equipped kitchen gallery
and stairs to the three bedrooms above. The third floor comprises a master
double bedroom with en-suite bathroom/W.C. a second double bedroom with
en-suite shower room/W.C. 
and a single bedroom with
en-suite W.C./wash basin. Other amenities include two colour televisions, VCR,
dishwasher, payphone, and a clothes washer & dryer. Gas and electricity are
by meter reading. Parking is on the nearby quay. Towels, daily maid service and
baby-sitting are available by arrangement. Duvets and bed-linen are included.
Smoking is not permitted, nor are pets. Sleeps 5 plus child's cot.
The Boathouse is available on a weekly basis (Saturday-to-Saturday) at prices ranging from £582 to £1,236 --- depending upon the time of season desired and availability. Prices are in Sterling and are exclusive of V.A.T.
